I am a believer that the true brilliance in human evolution is our ability to take in the world around us and present our interpretation in the form of art and architecture.
I choose to present my interpretation with various artistic expressions, all converging at the intersection of architecture and inspiration. They say that one knows what path they want to take in life by the age of five. This was true for me, though it took me twenty years to put the pieces together.
Fine arts has always been an integral part of my life. In high school I was given a separate studio space to work on my portfolio because I had surpassed the regular school curriculum. At Northern Illinois University my fine arts classes were my refuge and I excelled in the university setting. As a teen my creativity spread into the realm of music and I was able to learn to play the guitar at the age of fifteen. This hobby became a passion and by my early twenties I was able to compose and record multiple songs in my own home studio. At the age of 21 I was hit with the sudden interest in woodworking and carpentry. While slowly gathering tools and building small projects I was finally able to put my passion to practice as a carpenter with Vimont Builders, Inc. in Lexington. This job placed me in the front line of upscale residential design and construction and it allowed me to witness and practice first hand the actual building process that is carried out after a structure has been designed.
This affinity for carpentry and the construction process combined with my skill as a fine artist have placed me squarely on the path to becoming an architect. Ambition is a strong force that I, for one, have been under the influence of for quite some time. I don't want to be just a good architect, I want to push the boundaries of the craft. I want to step into the mysterious and come out with an understanding. As Albert Einstein once said: "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." My eyes are open
