I believe the true brilliance in human evolution is the ability to experience and absorb the world, and present an interpretation of that world in the form of art and architecture. I choose to present my interpretation with various artistic expressions, all converging at the intersection of architecture and inspiration.
My goal throughout my career as a student of architecture has been to contribute to the craft. Becoming a licensed architect is a result, but it is not the driving force behind my actions. I understand the rigor and the drive that is necessary to make this contribution, and it’s my belief that complete immersion into design education is a fundamental step towards achieving that goal.
Architecture is not a regional or national task. It is a human task that requires a breadth of knowledge that cannot be confined to a single studio at a single university. To contribute to the craft of architecture, I must immerse myself within every opportunity in order to emerge on the other side informed, inspired, and capable of strengthening the impact of architecture on the human condition. I want to step into the mysterious and come out with an understanding. As Albert Einstein once said, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.” My eyes are open.
I just finished working as a contractor and carpenter for Dick Levine over the 2010 Summer session.
I will be attending the University of Kentucky this Fall and am now in my Junior year at the School of Architecture.
"Jon, I believe, has the rare ability to take seemingly disparate conditions, draw sound connections between them, bring them into one clearly made architectural idea, and articulate that process in both a verbal and visual presentation"
